Rockies use long ball to drop Chukars
July 29, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
The Casper Rockies stayed a game out of first place in the Pioneer League South Thursday night with a 9-3 win over Idaho Falls. However, the Ogden Raptors
also won, which means the best Casper can get is a first place tie in the 1st half of the season.
Despite that the Rockies continue to play great baseball. With last night's win, Casper has won eight of their last ten games. During last night's game the Rockies used three long balls to dump Idaho Falls. Trevor Allen smoked a two-run blast in the 1st inning, and later added an 8th inning two run shot. Kyle Blumenthal erased a Chukars one-run lead with a 7th inning two-run homer.
Jay Metzger started and went five innings for the Rockies, allowing two runs. Reliever Riquy De Los Santos earned the win, pitching an inning of relief. The loss went to Chukars lefty Adam Kalkhof.
With the win Casper is 20-17 with one game left in the 1st half of the season. The Chukars and Rockies get the second game going at 7:15 Friday night. Anuery Rodriguez pitches for Casper against Bennett Cromer of the Chukars.
