The Casper Rockies lost their third straight game on Monday night, losing 4-3 in Orem in 13 innings. The loss drops Casper to third place in the South, two games behind Ogden who beat Idaho Falls on Monday. The Rockies lead in the wildcard race is now only one game over Orem.
In the extra inning game on Monday, the Rockies and Owlz had great pitching all night. Alan Johnson started for the Rockies and worked a season-long seven innings. Brett Strickland pitched three shutout innings and Sandy Espinosa worked the last innings and took the loss for Casper. Dexter Fowler went 3-6 with an RBI and two stolen bases.
Billy Boyer of Orem had four hits on the night, including the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 13th. The two clubs hook up again in Utah Tuesday night at 7:05. Brandon Durden pitches for Casper versus Jose Arredondo of Orem.
