Rockford takes two of three during week 16

Despite having its eight-game unbeaten streak come to an end, the Rockford IceHogs won two of its three games during Week 16 of the 2006-07 United Hockey League regular season schedule. The IceHogs offense is still producing, netting 14 goals in the three games. Week 17 features a pair of showdowns with Muskegon and Kalamazoo.

Wednesday, Jan. 24: Elmira Jackals 4 vs. Rockford IceHogs 7

Friday, Jan. 26: Rockford IceHogs 4 at Quad City Mallards 3

Saturday, Jan. 27: Rockford IceHogs 3 at Flint Generals 5

Bacon Bits:

Rockford had its eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1), four-game winning streak and six-game road unbeaten streak (4-0-2) snapped on Saturday in Flint.

Center Preston Mizzi has a seven-game scoring streak (7g-8a-15pts).

Mizzi had a team season-high four assists on Wednesday against Elmira.

Goaltender Frederic Cloutier had his personal nine-game unbeaten streak (7-0-2) come to an end on Saturday against Flint.

Winger/Defenseman Bryce Cockburn has a point in four straight games and six of his last seven overall.

Rockford is 4-1-0 against the Eastern Conference at home this season, but just 1-5-1 against them on the road.

The IceHogs have had a two-goal scorer in a game 26 times this season, but no hat-tricks.

Rockford finished January 8-2-2.

After being outscored by its opposition in the third period through the first two months of the regular season, the IceHogs are now outscoring its opponents 52-40 in the final frame.

Hot Hog Week 16:

For the second straight week IceHogs center Preston Mizzi led the club's resurgent offense. Mizzi tallied 3g-5a-8pts during the Hogs three-game week. Mizzi has a seven-game point streak overall.

Upcoming Games:

Friday, Feb. 2 at Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 6:30 p.m. The IceHogs open Week 17 with its first trip of the season to Kalamazoo to take on the Wings. The game is a battle between the UHL's two second place clubs.

Saturday, Feb. 3 at Muskegon Fury. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. Rockford's five-game road swing continues with another trip to the L.C. Walker Arena in Muskegon, Mich. for a game against the Fury.

Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops.
