
Rockford rallies past PrairieThunder, 3-2

Rockford's Bruce Watson deflected a Matt Gens' shot into the net for a power play goal to send the IceHogs to a 3-2 Western Conference victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder in United Hockey League action Sunday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum before 3,378 people.
Watson's goal came with 2:07 remaining in the third period to rally the IceHogs past the PrairieThunder, which had a 2-0 lead after the first period. Bloomington got its lead on a short-handed goal by Jon Booras off an assist from Greg Koehler with 11:14 remaining in the period.
Tim Schneider's unassisted goal with 16 seconds remaining in the first period put the PrairieThunder ahead, 2-0. Rockford's Preson Mizzi but the Rockford deficit in half with 8:36 left in the second period. Dan Boeser and Gens had the assists.
The IceHogs, which outshot the home teams, 31-15, over the final two periods for a 40-23 overall advantage, tied the game with 18:48 remaining on a goal by Paul Brown off an assist from Nicolas Corbeil. Watson's game-winner on the power play goal was assisted by Nathan Lutz and Gens.
The loss dropped the PrairieThunder's record to 25-43-5, ahead of Thursday's 7:05 p.m. contest against Western Conference leader Fort Wayne at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
