
Rockford moves on to second round after sending Komets home

For the second straight season, the Rockford IceHogs advanced to the Colonial Cup Semifinals. The IceHogs eliminated the Western Division Fort Wayne Komets in five games (4-1), a year after the Komets ended Rockford's season in the Semifinals. As for this season's Semifinals, opponent, game dates and times will be determined at a later date.
Tuesday, April 25: Rockford IceHogs 4 at Fort Wayne Komets 5 (Game Three)
Thursday, April 27: Rockford IceHogs 6 at Fort Wayne Komets 4 (Game Four)
Friday, April 28: Fort Wayne Komets 1 vs. Rockford IceHogs 2 (Game Five)
Bacon Bits:
Rockford's postseason series win over Fort Wayne is the club's second ever series win in team history.
The IceHogs scored a team playoff record three shorthanded goals in its series against Fort Wayne.
Rookie center Steve Yetman figured in all three of the shorthanded goals (1g-2a). Yetman accumulated three shorthanded points in the regular season as well.
Winger Greg Barber netted a pair of shorthanded goals in the series becoming the first IceHogs skater to net two shorties in one postseason.
Rockford scored three shorthanded goals compared to four power-play tallies in the series.
Despite missing the first two games of the postseason due to League Suspension, winger Billy Tibbetts led the Hogs with 20 shots on goal.
The IceHogs set a club record against the Komets for most goals in a playoff series, netting 23 markers.
Rookie winger Chaz Johnson has a penalty in five straight games, one shy of the team postseason record of six set by winger Eric Labelle last season.
Hot Hog Week 28:
Winger Greg Barber netted a point in all three games for Rockford during last week's First Round playoff set against Fort Wayne. Barber accumulated 3g-3a-6pts in the three-game week and scored the series-clinching goal in Game Five shorthanded to help Rockford to the 2-1 win in the game and 4-1 series win.

To Be Determined: Because there is still two other Colonial Cup First Round series going on, the IceHogs opponent for the Colonial Cup Semifinals is yet to be determined. Currently, the Quad City Mallards lead the Danbury Trashers 3-2 with Game Six on Monday night and the Muskegon Fury lead the Adirondack Frostbite 3-2 with Game Six also on Monday night. The following are the scenarios for the possible upcoming opponents:
Kalamazoo Wings: Rockford would play Kalamazoo if Danbury beats Quad City and if Muskegon beats out Adirondack. Kalamazoo would have home-ice advantage
Muskegon Fury: Rockford would play Muskegon if Muskegon beats Adirondack and Quad City beats Danbury. Muskegon would have home-ice advantage.
Danbury Trashers: Rockford would play the Trashers if Danbury beats Quad City and Adirondack beats Muskegon. Danbury would have home-ice advantage.
Adirondack: Rockford would play Adirondack if the Frostbite beat Muskegon and Quad City beats Danbury. Rockford would have home-ice advantage.
