Rockford Thunder News Release

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford Thunder (17-26) held on for most of the night, keeping pace with the second-place Philadelphia Force (27-16), but couldn't hold on to win, and fell in ten innings, 2-1.

Amanda Williams had two hits on the afternoon, Kristen Zaleski scored a run, and Savannah Brown had a run batted in for the Thunder.

Rockford led off the contest with a second-inning lead, as Zaleski was driven in off of a Brown sacrifice fly to center field.

The Force scored once right away in the top of the third, when Trena Peel singled Amy Hudson in from third base. Six scoreless innings ensued, until the Force scored once again in the top of the tenth. Rockford got a runner to third base with one out in the bottom half of the tenth, but couldn't score that last run to tie the game up again.

Allison Kime (9-8) pitched ten outstanding innings for the Thunder, allowing just one earned run. Fifth-year veteran Jodie Cox (1-0) earned her first decision of the season pitching 3+ innings of relief to take the win for the Force.

These two teams will meet once again Monday night, in Rockford's last home game of 2008. The game is set to start at 6:35 pm at Players Park in Roscoe.
