Roscoe, IL. - A day after the Force clinches their first ever NPF Playoff birth, the Rockford Thunder gave the Philadelphia Force all they could handle by taking the game into extra innings. Stacy Birk of the Philadelphia Force got the start on the mound today going 6.2 innings giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run. Jodie Cox relieved Birk in the 7th to help the Force finish on top and she only gave up 1 hit and zero earned runs. Allison Kime pitched all 10 innings for the Rockford Thunder giving up 10 hits and 1 earned run.

Rockford got the scoring started in the second with Kristen Zaleski doubling down the left field line with one out. She later advanced to third on a wild pitch. Savannah Brown put the Thunder on the board by hitting a Sacrifice Fly to Centerfield. However, this was the only time they scored on the day.

Emily Friedman singled to left field advancing to second. With two outs, McDonald singled to the pitcher loading the bases. Trena Peel came up and singled to short-stop with Hudson then scoring. This would be the only Force or Thunder scoring until the tenth inning.

By NPF rules, in the top of the tenth both teams start with a runner on second base. Peel started things off for the Force as she was placed on second base. Chelsea Spencer doubled to right field scoring Peel. This would eventually be the game winning run for the Force. The finish the top half of the tenth, Hall placed down a beautiful sacrifice bunt advancing Spencer to third. However, the Thunder shut down all other scoring opportunities.

The Thunder started with Erin Evans on second. The farthest she would end up is by making it to third base on a Amada Williams ground out to first base. Cox then hit Callahan with a pitch creating runners on first and third. However, this is all the Thunder threatened with for the remainder of the game. The final score of the night was 2-1.

The Force will continue into game four tomorrow night at 6:35 CT. This will mark the Force's final away series of the year. The Force will take on the Akron Racers in their final homestand starting on Wednesday August 13th at 7:05 ET.
