Rocket Announce Trades On Deadline Day

January 7, 2010 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
P.E.I. Rocket News Release

The Rocket announced earlier today that they have acquired 20 year old left winger, Derek Famulare (6'2", 205 lbs) from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in exchange for PEI's seventh round draft pick in 2010. Famulare was a fourth round draft pick (#71) for Chicoutimi in 2006. Derek has scored 45 goals and 79 assists in his QMJHL career. He is expected to be in the lineup for the Rocket when they face the Olympiques Friday night in Gatineau. Famulare played for Coach Eric Lavigne in Val-d'Or and is a solid two way player. Pierre-Marc Lessard decided to end his junior career so the fourth round pick will be returned to the Rocket and it opened a spot for a player like Famulare.

Capstick Acquired from Val-d'Or

17 year old defenseman Dylan Captick (6'3", 208 lbs) was also acquired by the PEI Rocket from the Val d'Or Foreurs in exchange for PEI's fourth round draft pick in 2011. Capstick was born in Verdun, QC and was originally drafted in the fourth round (#55) by the Foreurs in 2008 and played for coach Eric Lavigne in Val-d'Or. He will join the team immediately and is expected to play on Friday. Dylan is an offensive defenseman who played for Team Quebec in last year's Under 17 tournament and has a bright future.

Pelletier Acquired from Halifax

The Rocket have also acquired 19 year old left winger, Guillaume Pelletier (6'2", 186 lbs) from the Halifax Mooseheads in exchange Bradley MacDonald. Pelletier was a third round draft pick (#46) for Rimouski in 2007. Pelletier is also expected to be in the lineup for the Rocket when they face the Olympiques Friday night in Gatineau.

Guay Released

With 3 twenty year old players on the roster, and with the acquisition of some new defenseman, the Rocket announced that Christopher Guay has been released from the team and will return to Quebec.

"We are very happy with the new editions to our roster" said Serge Savard Jr. "We were able to add some significant size and depth to our line-up with-out sacrificing our young players and we feel this is be the best approach for long term success", added the President & Governor.

The Rocket return to home action January 16 when they host the Drummondville Voltigeurs at the Charlottetown Civic Centre at 7:00 PM.
