Rockers' Gig Spoiled by Sweep

Green Bay, WI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters rode a seven-run sixth inning to a 12-8 win over the Green Bay Rockers and a series sweep.

The Pit Spitters finish the season 3-1 against the Rockers and 7-5 against the Great Lakes West. They went 5-1 at home but 2-4 on the road.

Jacob Charon started the scoring in the second. His double down the left field line scored a pair to make it 2-0.

Insurance was added big time in the sixth. Colin Summerhill kicked off the big inning with a three-run home run to right field. He took the team lead in home runs with his third of the season. Trey Truitt added one with an RBI double. Charon hit a sac fly for his third RBI. Evan Orzech knocked in a run and scored on Camden Traficante's double.

Scoring in the sixth, Traficante set the franchise-record for most runs scored in a season. He has 51 on the year, breaking a tie with Hudson Byorick in 2019.

Duncan Lutz was excellent in his second start. He went a season-high six innings and struck out a season-high eight batters. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, finishing with two hits allowed and no runs.

Truitt walked with the bases loaded to score a run in the seventh. Two more came in on a ground ball by Charon to make it 12-0. Charon finished with a team-high four RBIs.

The Rockers would score eight straight runs to make it interesting late. They hit three homers, two coming in the ninth. Adam Christopher came in to face one batter, getting a strikeout to seal the win.

There were strikeouts galore in the game. Green Bay's starter struck out 12 in five innings. Green Bay pitchers would total 18 in the game. Lutz and four other Spitters would combine for 12 strikeouts.
