Toronto Rock News Release

(Toronto, ON) In an overwhelmingly physical match, the Toronto Rock prevailed for the second night in a row, extending their winning streak to three games. Tonight, the final score was 17-13 over a ferocious Buffalo Bandits squad.

The match began with equal effort by both squads with the first quarter ending in a 1 all draw. Toronto and Buffalo goals were scored by Steve Toll and Mike Accursio respectively in what appeared to be a quiet, low scoring game. Toronto's attending fans of over 15, 000 were treated to much more than what the first quarter eluded to.

A combined effort of 10 goals, 7 of which being on the side of the Toronto Rock, were scored by the teams in the second quarter. But the story of the night was Rock forward Blaine Manning. Manning led the Rock with 13 points on 5 goals and 8 assists. Manning started the game with 15 points, as he came close to doubling his 5 game total in one night. Not only was it a single game record for the second year player it was a career high.

Colin Doyle chipped in with 9-points on 3 goals and 6 assists, while Rock captain added 7 of his own on 1goal and 6 assists.

As the Toronto pulled away, Buffalo began to get more and more frustrated with the Rock show that dominated the undefeated Bandits. The Bandit players tried to win something when they realized that the game was out of their grasp and if it meant grabbing a member of the opposing team thats what they did. The conclusion of the game said it all, when the officiating crew would not permit the two teams to shake hands. At the end of the game the Rock improved to 4-2 while the Bandits dropped to 3-1.
