
Rock to open defence of NLL Champion's Cup against Arizona

TORONTO - The Toronto Rock will begin defence of its National Lacrosse League Champion's Cup title on Saturday Jan. 7, 2006, against the Arizona Sting at The Air Canada Centre.
The league released its full schedule today. The first game will be played on Friday Dec. 30 when the Philadelphia Wings travel to Colorado to play the Mammoth in what will be Gary Gait's pro coaching debut.
Highlighted on this year's schedule for the Rock and Toronto lacrosse fans is the first NLL Hall of Fame game when the Rock will host the Philadelphia Wings. In this rivalry game at the ACC on Friday, Feb. 24, the first inductions into the NLL Hall of Fame will be made at halftime. Inductees include the late Les Bartley, who guided the Rock to their first four NLL championships as head coach and in management, league founders Russ Cline and Chris Fritz, and twin sensations Paul and Gary Gait. The Wings are celebrating their 20th anniversary in pro lacrosse and will travel to Toronto again on April 8 for the Rock's last regular season home game at 7 p.m. at the ACC.
The Rock will hold their annual Charity/Autograph game on Saturday March 25 when they host their Alberta rival the Calgary Roughnecks at 2 p.m. And fans will get their first look at the expansion Edmonton Rush when they visit the ACC on Friday Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
The schedule will also feature home dates with Minnesota, Buffalo, and Rochester. Toronto will travel out of the division to play Calgary and Edmonton, while playing division rivals Buffalo, Rochester, Minnesota and Philadelphia on the road as well.
