Rock Sweep Weekend Set With Rochester

Toronto - After a convincing 10-5 win over Rochester on Friday night, the Rock overcame a slow start offensively to down to the Knighthawks 13-6 on Saturday night in Rochester.

After not being able to muster up a regular season win in 15 previous tries in Rochester, the Rock have now won two straight in Rochester and swept the season series in the process winning all three meetings.

Bob Watson picked up right were he left off the night before and was stellar between the pipes for the Rock out of the gate. Stephen Hoar put the Rock up 1-0 and it wasn't until a late quarter power play goal that the Knighthawks were able to tie the game 1-1.

After having his career-long goal scoring streak snapped a night earlier, Stephan Leblanc scored a pair of 2nd quarter goals. Garrett Billings and Kasey Beirnes each continued their scoring prowess connecting with singles in the 2nd quarter. Jeff Gilbert scored one late in the half after a Rochester 6-on-5 play didn't pan out and the Rock led 6-2 at the break.

The Rock continued to get scoring from some of the not so usual suspects. Mike Hobbins and Hoar each scored to stretch the Toronto lead to 8-2. Rochester got one back but Billings scored his second of the game to answer the Knighthawks lone goal of the third quarter. Blaine Manning and Leblanc also found the mark to give the Rock an 11-3 lead after three quarters.

Doyle's assist on the third quarter power play goal scored by Billings was the 800th point scored by the Toronto captain while wearing a Rock jersey.

Rochester scored a pair of goals in the early stages of the 4th quarter but Creighton Reid quickly took the wind out of their sails scoring his first goal of the season. Reid's goal made the score 12-5.

Billings finished off his hat-trick for the second night in a row and Rochester added one more to make the final 13-6.

The Rock will play their second consecutive road game next Saturday night in Philadelphia at 8:00pm.
