New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT-The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has announced it has installed energy saving outlet modules (OM) at all concession stands and portables at New Britain Stadium. CORIS, a company designed to develop energy saving products, has placed 41 outlet modules in the concession stands and portables so the club can monitor the amount of electricity that each soda fridge uses. It is the club's latest effort to "Go Green." The Rock Cats retrofitted the stadium concourse and offices with High Efficiency Lighting as an energy saving tactic in the past and also introduced recyclable bottles and cans with recycling bins placed throughout the ballpark.
"Improving energy performance is an important environmental strategy for the Rock Cats" said Tim Restall, General Manager for the Rock Cats. "The CORIS devices were extremely easy to install and give us better control and management of our refrigeration to combat the raising cost in electricity. With having a large stadium that was built 20 years ago, it is a challenge to manage our electricity usage. CORIS made it very simple for us to do so."
The CORIS Outlet Modules monitor the amount of electricity that each soda fridge uses and are able to keep a running meter on a "per device" basis. New Britain Stadium has a few different sizes of these glass-door fridges and using CORIS technology, the Rock Cats will now be able to calculate the capacity/electricity usage of each fridge to see which units were most efficient. The OMs are operated via wireless technology, so no expensive conduit or control wires had to be installed.
The 41 energy saving outlet modules have been installed and are now in full use at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats return home and open a six-game homestand tomorrow (Friday, May 2nd) with a 6:35 PM game against New Hampshire and a post-game fireworks show presented by Stanley Black & Decker. The Yankees affiliate, the Trenton Thunder, is in town next Monday through Wednesday. Tickets are available by calling 860-224-8383 or visiting the website, www.rockcats.com .
