Rochester's Linus Ullmark Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Rochester Americans goaltender Linus Ullmark has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 21, 2016.
Ullmark was peppered with 97 shots in two games last week and allowed only three goals (.969), backstopping the Americans to consecutive victories.
On Friday night, Ullmark stopped 43 of 44 shots to lead Rochester to a 2-1 overtime victory over Portland at the Blue Cross Arena. Then on Saturday in Syracuse, he made 51 saves - the most by an AHL goaltender in any game this season and the most by a Rochester goalie in more than six years - as the Amerks defeated the Crunch, 6-2.
A sixth-round choice by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Ullmark has a record of 6-6-0 in 13 appearances for Rochester this season, posting a 2.79 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. The 22-year-old native of Lugnvik, Sweden, has also played 19 NHL games with the Sabres in 2015-16, going 7-10-2 (2.58, .915). Ullmark is in his first season of pro hockey in North America after playing for MODO in the Swedish Hockey League.
In recognition of his achievement, Ullmark will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Americans home game.
