AW, MAN: The Red Wings' winning streak was halted at 7 games with the 9-2 loss vs. Empire State.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END: Chris Parmelee's 15-game hitting streak came to an end after going 0-for-3 with a walk.

PITCHING IN: Matt Carson came on in relief in the 8th inning for his first pitching appearance since August 11, 2009 with Triple-A Sacramento (A's)... he made 6 pitching appearances overall in 2009, allowing 8 runs (7 ER) in 6.0 innings.

TOBY OR NO TOBY: Matt Carson became the Red Wings' first position player to pitch since Toby Gardenhire threw a scoreless 9th inning in an 18-3 loss vs. Durham July 21, 2011.

A RIVERA RUNS THROUGH IT: Rene Rivera made the first pitching appearance of his pro career, tossing a scoreless 9th inning.
