Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks host one of the surprise teams in the National Lacrosse League this season, the Columbus Landsharks, on Saturday, February 15th. The Central Division rivals collide at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. Rochester (5-2) enters the game in second place in the division on the strength of a four-game winning streak. The 'Hawks trail the Buffalo Bandits (6-1) by only one game. The Knighthawks are coming off a 12-9 road win over the Philadelphia Wings on February 8th, their first win in Philly since 1999. Rochester made history with its fourth consecutive road victory. Goaltender Pat O'Toole held an opponent to less than 10 goals for the second time in three games. Rochester will try to improve upon its 2-0 divisional record.

The Knighthawks return home Saturday where they have struggled this season, considering they brought a 15-game home winning streak into the 2002-03 campaign. Rochester has a 1-2 mark at The Blue Cross Arena this year.

The game on Saturday is the second of the week for Columbus. The Landsharks face the New Jersey Storm on Friday before heading to Rochester. Columbus is trying to break a season-high two-game losing streak. The Landsharks are 0-3 all-time against the Knighthawks, but took Rochester to overtime in their last meeting on March 22, 2002.

Prior to the contest, the Knighthawks will honor forward and Fairport native Tim Soudan for playing in 100 straight regular season games with the Knighthawks. He has played in every game in team history, appearing in 101 regular season games and 13 playoff contests. He hit the century mark on February 2nd in Albany.

Teammate Cory Bomberry can also make history on Saturday, as he stands one assist away from tying Duane Jacobs' all-time assist record. Bomberry has 184 assists, one behind the mark of 185 set by Jacobs.

The 7:35 p.m. game will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC and televised live on WB-16.
