Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- The International Hockey League, in concert with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, has announced on this date that Lumberjacks center TODD ROBINSON has been acclaimed PEPSI / IHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK for the week of December 1st through December 7th.
ROBINSON, 30, orchestrated yet another prominent, dominant weekend of prolific point-producing prowess in, once again, emerging as the supreme catalyst in maintaining Muskegon's hold on first place residence in the IHL standings. At the Lumberjacks focal point in both games the past weekend, the team captain assumed his standard positive position of center stage for his league-leading aggregation nation.
The league's premiere point-meister maestroed two more multi-point games in two nights, accumulating 6-points in all on 2-goals, 4-assists. Included in the "Robinsonian" rich resume was another brilliant 4-points enormous performance (2-2-4), his second +4 rating of the season, crowned by being named the game's #1 Star despite the âJacks 6-4 setback ingested Friday night against Port Huron. Then, on the following night, he promptly proceeded to author 2-more assists in his team's Saturday night 4-1 triumph over archrival Kalamazoo.
He was a stellar +5 for the 2-games the past weekend and has, remarkably, recorded 13-multiple point games in Muskegon's first 18-games of the season. The pre-eminent prince of points playmaking pivot has established an emphatic 12-points' advantage atop the IHL scoring race, having amassed an astronomical 42-points in 18-games on 12-goals and 30-assists. The native of Trail, B.C. is averaging 2.33 points per game thus far this season.
Included on the tote board by Robinson are 4-multiple goal games. In addition, he leads the IHL in assists (30); and SHG (tied-2). He ranks third in the league with a superb +13 rating while his 9-PP/assists tie him for third most in the IHL. In his last 9-games, he has been the imperial impresario of some 21-points on 3-goal, 18-assists, averaging 2-assists per game in those last 9-outings.
This is the third time already in this 2008-09 campaign that "T. Rob" has been so anointed as Pepsi / IHL Player of the Week and it's the fourth time overall that the Lumberjacks have been the recipients of the league's most coveted weekly honor. Robinson's linemate, left wing Luke Stauffacher also is a previous winner of the award.
The first place Lumberjacks continue their extended 5-game home stand this weekend when they lock horns with defending league champion Fort Wayne, Friday night, December 12th with the âJacks leading the season series at this juncture of the campaign, 3(3-0-0) and 1(1-0-0) at home. Saturday night, December 13th, the âJacks have a date with archrival Flint. They are 4(3-0-1) against the Generals this year. Both games will have an opening face-off of 7:00 pm at Walker Arena with the Lumberjacks introducing their all-new third jersey of "Vegas Gold" for both games.
