Roanoke Dazzle News Release
ROANOKE , Va , January 2, 2004- Geoff Owens scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help the Roanoke Dazzle defeat the Fayetteville Patriots 104-93 Saturday night at the Roanoke Civic Center. Josh Asselin was the leading scorer with a season high 25 points and Terrence Shannon added 22.
The Dazzle's 7-0 run in the fourth was the turning point in the game, leading them to their fourth victory over the Patriots this season. After being a tight game throughout the first three quarters, the Dazzle played tough defense in the fourth to outscore the Patriots 33-23.
"We really brought it together in the fourth quarter," said Dazzle head coach Kent Davison. "Our guys stepped up and played good defense."
The Patriots were led by Jason Capel with 20 points. Omar Cook chipped in 19.
"Turnovers at bad times hurt," said Fayetteville head coach Jeff Capel. "We got sloppy and they knew how to take advantage of that."
The Dazzle and Patriots face off again tomorrow night in Fayetteville. The game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. Roanoke doesn't return home until Tuesday, January 13, when they play Columbus.
