Roanoke Dazzle resign point guard Will Bynum to roster

November 21, 2005 - NBA G League (G League)
Roanoke Dazzle News Release

Roanoke, Va., November 19 - The Roanoke Dazzle have re-signed 2005 first-round draft pick Will Bynum to the active roster. Bynum, a point guard, is expected to be the starter and floor general for the Dazzle this season but suffered a strained hamstring in the first half of the Dazzle's preseason win this past Wednesday and is not expected to play for another week at the least.

Bynum did not dress this Sunday, as the Dazzle beat the Fayetteville Patriots at the Roanoke Civic Center, nor is he expected to make the road-trip to Fort Myers for a pair of games against the Florida Flame this Friday and Saturday.

In the first half of the Dazzle's preseason game, Bynum scored 4 points before straining his hamstring making a defensive play in front of the Dazzle bench. Dazzle Head Coach Kent Davison wants Bynum to fully recover from the strain before making his return to the court so as not come back early and re-aggravate the injury.

The number one pick of the Dazzle, Bynum was the fifth overall pick in this year's NBA Development League draft. Prior to the draft, Bynum participated in the Boston Celtics training camp.

Opening a spot on the active roster for Bynum was the departure of guard Sung-Yoon Bang for his native South Korea. With the injury to Bynum and the departure of Bang, the Dazzle have only four healthy guards currently on the roster.

The Dazzle will make the road trip to Ft. Myers, Fla. this Friday and Saturday to take on the Florida Flame. The Dazzle will return home December 2nd and 3rd, when they will host the Florida Flame at the Roanoke Civic Center. Game time for both Friday and Saturday is 7:00 p.m.

Season, Partial Season and discounted Group tickets are still available for purchase by contacting the Roanoke Dazzle at (540) 266-1000. Individual game tickets may also be purchased by stopping by the Roanoke Civic Center Box Office.

The NBA Development League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.).

The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella.
