
Roadrunners Stymied by Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners were shut out 3-0 at the hands of the McAllen Thunder and starting pitcher Brett Miller Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Miller (2-3) earned the win after pitching eight scoreless innings while scattering four hits with one strike out.
The Thunder (17-29) got the scoring started in the top of the second inning after an RBI double by Mario Mercedes. One batter later, Jacob Douglas hit an RBI double to left field scoring Mercedes from third making it 2-0.
McAllen added a run in the top of the sixth inning after Mercedes hit an RBI single to left field scoring Jacinto Cipriota pushing their lead to 3-0.
Edinburg (20-26) starter Guadalupe Barrera (1-2) lasted five and a third innings and allowed three runs on nine hits while taking the loss.
Reliever Elroy Urbina kept McAllen off the scoreboard as he pitched three and two-thirds of scoreless baseball but it was McAllen reliever who pitched a scoreless ninth giving them the 3-0 victory.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will wrap up their series Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Saturday's series opener against the Fort Worth Cats will be Taco Ole Family Weekend and Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Rally Towel Night where the first 1,000 receive a rally towel.
