Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL are pleased to announce that in just its inaugural season, the club was able to donate $132,659 in cash, tickets, and memorabilia to local non-profit organizations throughout Arizona.
Highlighting the RoadRunners fundraising efforts was the grand Hockey Night in Phoenix event held on April 19, 2005 at US Airways Center. The game, which featured NHL stars from past and present including Jeremy Roenick, Luc Robitaille, and RoadRunners President Claude Lemieux, raised $57,000 for local youth hockey associations and charities.
The RoadRunners also raised $17,199 during their inaugural Harley Night Jersey Auction and Celebrity Waiters and Casino Night events in April to benefit Phoenix HOG Charities and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona. The top selling jersey of the night belonged to center Shawn Snider, whose #10 sweater was purchased for $4,500.
Other fundraising events included the first annual "Teddy Bear Toss" that benefited the Maricopa County Head Start Program, the welcoming of the Stanley Cup Tour to Phoenix, and both the "Phoenix Suns-themed" and "RoadRunners Retro" game-worn jersey auctions.
The Phoenix RoadRunners return to the ice at US Airways Center in October 2006. Information on season tickets, half-season packages, and flex plans are available by calling (602) 462-GOAL.
