Gladiators Extend Series with 6-1 win over Aces in Game Four

Cam Brown had a goal and two assists to lead the Gwinnett Gladiators past the Alaska Aces 6-1 in Game 4 of the 2006 Kelly Cup Finals. With the win, the Gladiators force Game 5 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Thursday night at 7:35 p.m. as Alaska leads the best of seven series 3 games to 1.

Milan Gajic's 11th goal of the playoffs gave the Gladiators a 1-0 lead just 5:17 into the first period. Parked on the far post, Gajic took a rink-wide pass from Scott Mifsud and beat Alaska netminder Chris Beckford-Tseu to the near post for the goal. Jeff Campbell also had an assist on the power play marker.

Matt York extended the Gladiators lead to 2-0 as he backhanded a centering pass from Cam Brown out of the corner past Beckford-Tseu for the tally. Derek Nesbitt posted an assist on the goal at the 17:20 mark of the period, moving the puck along to Brown in the corner to set up the tally.

Guillaume Desbiens pushed the Gladiators lead to 3-0 with his 8th goal of the post season rolling the puck past Beckford-Tseu just 1:02 into the second period for the lead. Brown added his second assist of the night moving the puck into the slot where Desbiens beat Beckford-Tseu for the marker. Jeff Campbell also had an assist on the goal for the Gladiators.

The Gladiators took a 4-0 lead on Cam Brown's 2nd goal of the post season at the 13:58 mark of the middle stanza. York, tied up behind the net, one-handed the puck into the high slot for a waiting Brown to add an assist on the marker. Troy Milam also had an assist on the goal.

Scott Mifsud added his 9th goal of the playoffs as he used Lane Manson as a decoy on a 2-on-1 break and ripped a slap shot over the shoulder of Beckford-Tseu for the marker. Mifsud's marker came unassisted at the 15:16 mark of the middle period.

Desbiens added his second goal of the game at the 11:48 mark of the third period as he ripped a snap shot past Beckford-Tseu for the marker. Gajic and Milam collected the assists on the tally to give the Gladiators a 6-0 lead.

Matt Riddle ruined Adam Berkhoel's shutout bid for the Gladiators with a power play goal with 9 seconds left in the third period. Ryan Gaucher and Matt Shasby hooked up for the assists on the marker.

Gwinnett outshot the Aces 36-20 while converting on 2-of-7 power play chances. Alaska went 1-for-11 on the man advantage scoring their only goal on the power play with just 9 seconds left in the third period. Gwinnett limited the Aces to less than 8 shots each period.
