
Roadrunners Earn Split With 7-3 Victory

EDINBURG, Texas--- The Edinburg Roadrunners earned the split of the four-game series with the Amarillo Dillas with a 7-3 victory Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Wardell Starling (2-0) picked up the win after pitching six innings and allowing three runs on six hits.
The Dillas (5-5) got a run in the top of the first with an RBI single from Alberto Cruz making it a 1-0 ballgame.
Wilmer Pino quickly tied things at one with his first home run of the season off of Dillas' starter Ralph Roberts (0-2). Felix Molina and Wilson Batista followed with singles and then moved to second and third on a passed ball. Ambiorix Concepcion and Vincent Blue each hit an RBI ground out to make it 3-1 Roadrunners.
In the bottom of the second inning, Molina hit an RBI single that allowed Alexis Hernandez to score from second. Batista followed with a two-run double to left center field that scored Pino and Molina extending the Roadrunners lead 6-1.
Edinburg (7-3) added another run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single by Robert Matlock that drove in Carlos Hereaud making the score 7-1.
A two-run double by Carlos Figueroa in the top of the sixth inning cut the Roadrunners lead to 7-3.
Julio Castro pitched a perfect ninth inning to give Edinburg the 7-3 victory.
The Roadrunners and the San Angelo Colts will begin a four-game series Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Tim Haines (1-0) is expected to face Ezequiel Astacio (1-1) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
