Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, announced today that rookie forwards Wes Clark and James McEwan have each agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming 2008-09 season.

Clark, 25, completed a four-year collegiate career in 2007-08 at the University of Maine by recording a career-high 10 goals and 21 points in 30 games to lead the Black Bears in scoring. The Oakville, Ontario native was a member of two Black Bears' squads that reached the NCAA Frozen Four in 2006 and 2007, losing both times in the National Semifinals. Clark totaled 20 goals, 21 assists, and 41 points in 83 career games at Maine.

McEwan, 21, served as Captain of the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League last season while collecting two goals, six points, and 93 penalty minutes in 37 games. The Kelowna, British Columbia native became just the fourth Kelowna-born Captain in the Rockets' 13-year history at the start of the season, but missed 25 games due to a wrist injury. McEwan led the Rockets and finished fourth in the WHL with a career-high 202 penalty minutes in 2006-07. He finished a four-year major junior career with seven goals, 10 assists, 17 points, and 540 penalty minutes in 208 games.

Clark and McEwan bring the total number of players that have agreed to terms on contracts with the RoadRunners for the upcoming 2008-09 season to nine. They join forwards Mitch Carefoot, Andrew Desjardins, Bryan Esner, Gino Guyer, Peder Skinner and Chris Stevens, and defenseman Matt Burke.

Phoenix will play a two-game pre-season series against the Florida Everblades Oct. 10-11 at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla.

The RoadRunners open their fourth ECHL season Oct. 17 when they welcome the Victoria Salmon Kings to US Airways Center for a three-game Opening Weekend series. Season tickets, half-season packages, and flex plans for the 2008-09 season of Phoenix RoadRunners Hockey are currently on sale by calling (602) 462-GOAL or by logging on to www.phxroadrunners.com.
