
Riversharks Fall Short In Extra Innings

Camden Riversharks News Release
(CAMDEN, NJ) The Camden Riversharks fall short in extra innings to the Somerset Patriots with a score of 3-2. Andrew Dobies (3-1) earned the win this evening and Scott Williamson picked up his fourth save this season. Riversharks reliever Ryan McKeller was charged with the loss (4-5).
Somerset struck in the first inning. Wayne Lydon led off with a single followed by Joe Burke advancing to first on a base on balls. Two batters later, Josh Pressley grounded out to second to drive in Lydon.
The Patriots added another run in the third frame. Pressley walked, and Matt Hagen and Noah Hall both singled. With Hall's single, he drove in the next run, making the score 2-0.
The 'Sharks tied up the game in the fifth. Raul Padron led off the inning with a base hit. He was put out at second on a fielder's choice, which allowed Juan Francia to advance to first. Chris Walker singled and Sean Smith walked to load the bases for the next batter. Chris Malec walked to the plate and shot a two run single into right center to drive in the tying runs.
Both teams were scoreless for the next four frames which put the game into extra innings.
It was not long before someone scored. In the top of the tenth with two outs on the board, Somerset's second baseman, Hagen hit a solo home run over the left field wall to put the Patriots back on top 3-2.
The Riversharks looked to tie up the game at the bottom of the frame but could not put together a run to take the first win of the series.
