Rivermen to Host Inaugural Faceoff Field Trip
August 24, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
The Peoria Rivermen announced today the club will host their first-ever Faceoff Field Trip on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 10:05 a.m. The regular season game will be filled with educational elements and each child in attendance will receive an educational workbook that will aim to teach various subjects through hockey.
"We think this game will be a fantastic event for the kids, teachers and parents to be a part of and thanks to some of our great local businesses we will be able to provide tickets to students in the area for free," said Rivermen Chief Operating Officer Jason Penning. "Our arena will be transformed into an exciting and fun classroom that will have the students learning and laughing all at the same time."
During breaks in the action, the students will be instructed to use their workbooks to help build their knowledge of subjects such as math, science, geography, and physical education using fun hockey references.
The school-day game will be included in the Rivermen season ticket packages so that all season ticket holders who wish to attend can do so. All season ticket holders that have the Nov. 17 game as part of their plan, will also receive two vouchers for free tickets to any other regular season game for each ticket in their package as compensation.
School administrators who are interested in signing up their class to receive free tickets should click HERE to download a reservation form or contact Jim Fox at 309-680-3812 or jfox@rivermen.net. Admission is open to all students pre-K through sixth grade located in Central Illinois on a first-come, first-served basis.
Seating location will also be based on the date in which we receive the reservations.
Any businesses that would like to get involved and provide tickets to local students for the game are encouraged to contact Kari Gabbert at 309-680-3810 or kgabbert@rivermen.net.
