Rivermen Netminder Kyle Rank Named Easton Player of the Week
February 18, 2014 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release
HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Kyle Rank of the Peoria Rivermen is the Easton Player of the Week for February 10-16.
Rank, who was acquired from Fayetteville on December 18, recorded back-to-back shutouts last week, stopping all 65 shots he faced in identical 3-0 wins over Fayetteville on Friday and Mississippi (RiverKings) on Sunday. His blanking of the RiverKings was his sixth shutout of the season, setting a new SPHL single-season record and eclipsing the previous mark of five established last year by Louisiana's Riley Gill.
In addition to shutouts, the Islip, NY native currently leads all SPHL netminders in goals against average (1.84) and save percentage (.940) and is tied for second with 14 wins. Rank played parts of four seasons with Bentley (MA) University, where he finished in the school's career leaders in save percentage (2nd), goals against average (3rd) and wins (6th).
Also Nominated: Bobby Watson, Bloomington (4 gp, 4 g, 3 a, +5), Nielsson Arcibal, Columbus (2 gp, 2 g, 2 a, +3), Corey Toy, Fayetteville (3 gp, 2 g, +4), Nick Lazorko, Huntsville (3 gp, 1 g, 2 a), Francis Drolet, Knoxville (3 gp, 2 g, 1 gwg), Adam Stuart, Mississippi Surge (2 gp, 2 g, 5 a, 1 gwg), Devin Mantha, Mississippi RiverKings (4 gp, 2 g, 2 a), Anthony Battaglia, Mississippi Surge (2 gp, 1 g) and Adam Pawlick, Pensacola (3 gp, 5 g, 1 shg, +4)
