Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL (July 14, 2005) - President and CEO Bart Rogers announced today that the Peoria Rivermen, proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, have hired Matthew Davis as the team's new director of media relations. Davis will assume all media relations duties from David Rak, who was promoted to the position of corporate sales and marketing manager.

"This is yet another step toward taking our staff to the next level," said Rogers. "Matt has accomplished quite a bit so far in his young career, and he has been associated with several high-quality individuals and organizations that possess many of the traits that we would like our club's media relations department to exhibit. We are confident that Matt will make a positive contribution to the Rivermen's effort to make AHL hockey happen here in Peoria."

Davis, 29, most recently served as an outside sales representative for the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2003-04 season. His first experience in professional hockey public relations work came in 1999-2000 and 2000-01, when he worked as a communications assistant for the Kansas City Blades of the International Hockey League (IHL). Following his first season with the Blades, Davis shared the IHL Western Conference Public Relations Staff of the Year award with Bob Kaser, now of the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Davis received a master of business administration degree in the double concentration of sport management and marketing from Seton Hall University in August 2003. While studying at Seton Hall, he also served as an intern with the New Jersey Devils and NHL.com. Davis earned a bachelor of business administration degree in economics with a minor in German in 1998 from Baylor University. Davis' career at Baylor culminated in his senior honors thesis on the long-term economic viability of small-market National Hockey League franchises.

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and will celebrate its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.

Season tickets for the Rivermen's inaugural season as a member of the AHL are now on sale! To obtain more information or to purchase season tickets, please contact Rivermen Director of Ticket Operations Jim Small at (309) 676-1040, ext. 106, or tickets@rivermen.net.
