SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - David Wilson turned aside 40 shots and Matt Whitehead extended his point streak to 14 games as the Mississippi RiverKings (23-23-8) knocked off the Pensacola Ice Flyers (30-16-5) 4-2 in Pensacola.

The RiverKings wasted no time striking first. Matt Harrington picked up a Mike MacDonald rebound and beat Gerry Festa to put the 'Kings up 1-0 just 1:26 into the first period. The visitors added to their lead at the 12:16 mark when Chris Campanale's wrist shot beat Festa to put the 'Kings ahead 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

In the second, the Ice Flyers cut the lead to one. Justin MacDonald beat David Wilson high, glove side 6:58 into the second period to cut the lead to 2-1. But the 'Kings answered. Tyler Sheldrake's shot from the point found the back of the net to put RiverKings ahead 3-1 going into the final period of regulation.

The Ice Flyers answered again in the third. Tyler Soehner ripped a slap shot on a five-on-three power play past Wilson to bring the Flyers within one with just over 15 minutes remaining. The RiverKings held onto the lead before Kevin Willer notched the empty-net goal with seconds remaining to give the 'Kings their fifth straight win.

David Wilson (9-10-4) stopped 40 of 42 shots against in the victory. Gerry Festa (8-7-3) turned away 20 of 23 shots against in the loss.
