RiverKings Sign Two Netminders, Prepare for Weekend

Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss â The two-time defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings signed two goaltenders on Thursday, as they prepare to face the Tulsa Oilers and Indianapolis Ice in weekend action.
The RiverKings signed veteran goaltender Nathan Grobins, a familiar face to many in the Central Hockey League. Grobins, who played last season in Jacksonville of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, was stationed between the pipes for Fort Worth, Macon, Fayetteville and San Antonio of the CHL from 1996-2001.
The RiverKings also signed goaltender Shawn Conschafter to the roster. Conschafter, who played four years at the University of Vermont, spent time with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL last season, appearing in one game.
The signings were necessitated by injuries sustained by RiverKings goaltenders Jean-Francois Racine and Mike Minard over the course of the past week. Assistant Coach Mark Richards said that due to the status both players have within the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, the RiverKings medical and coaching staffs wanted to err on the side of caution.
"We want to make absolutely sure that both players heal completely," said Richards. "We don't necessarily want to put either J-F or Mike in a position where they could compound their injuries."
The two-time defending champion Memphis RiverKings currently stand at 2-0-0 on the season, with 4 points. The RiverKings, who are alone in the lead in the Northeast Division of the CHL, will be in action this Friday, traveling to take on the Tulsa Oilers. The RiverKings will next be in action at home on Sunday, October 26, as they host the Indianapolis Ice. Gametime is set for 3:05 pm.
All 64 RiverKings games can be heard on Easy 680 AM, as well as worldwide via SportsJuice.com. Select RiverKings games will also be available through CHL TV, a league-wide video streaming enterprise.
