SOUTHAVEN—More than 100 people attended a luncheon hosted by the Memphis RiverKings to honor corporate sponsors and non-profit organizations for their support. In addition to sponsors and non-profit groups, the entire team and staff was in attendance, as well as master of ceremonies Eli Savoie of WHBQ Sports 56 AM and guest speakers Randy Campbell and David Nivison of the Nashville Predators.

The RiverKings have helped for-profit businesses connect with many non-profit organizations through the ‘Kings non-profit game day programs. The RiverKings feature a different non-profit organization at every game, helping raise awareness and money for the organizations using a willing captive audience.

"We're really glad to be a part of today's luncheon," said Campbell, who serves as the team's Vice-President of Marketing. "They called us several weeks ago—I guess it should have been the other way around," he said, chuckling. "The RiverKings are very professional and proactive, and it has been a pleasure working with them. Their efforts in the community are obviously effective and wide-reaching, and the product they put together on the ice is first-class."

Campbell went on to talk about the Predators' marketing strategy, saying that studies show the Predators have one of the most solid fan bases in the NHL.

"I consider that to be a huge success, especially since many people in this region are not comfortable yet with this sport," he said while addressing the crowd. "When people come out to a hockey game we know they will come back. Ninety-eight percent of the people we poll say they will definitely come back. It is the best live experience for people to participate in."

Nivison, who serves as Nashville's Vice-President of Corporate Sponsorships, said hockey offers a special fan experience. "We sell fun," he said.

But that's not all the Predators offer: Nivison said there is nothing like the intensity of a hockey match.

"It's passion that's unparalleled," Nivison said. "When you get into a hockey rink and hear the crowd and see the game, it's amazing."
