RiverKings In The Mid-South Update

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings are again the Mid-South, supporting causes and promoting the region's professional hockey team. Here's a rundown of some of the upcoming events you'll find the RiverKings involved in.

RiverKings mascots, Sheldon and RiverThing will be taking part in the Hickory Ridge Mall Grand Re-Opening parade on Saturday, April 3rd at 11:00 AM. The parade will take place on the streets surrounding the newly renovated Hickory Ridge Mall in Memphis, damaged about two years ago by a tornado.

In conjunction with the grand opening of the mall, the parade will proceed around the block of Ridgeway to the east of the mall, Raines to the south, Hickory Hill to the west, and Winchester to the north.

RiverKings forward Bobby Chaumont will make an appearance at Olive Branch High School on Wednesday, April 7th, speaking to students between 8:45 and 9:45 AM. The school is located at 6350 Blocker Street, near the intersection of College and Blocker east of Mississippi Highway 305.

The RiverKings' mascots are back at it in two more events during the month of April, both promoting healthy lifestyles.

On Saturday, April 17th, both mascots and RiverKings Slapshot inflatable will be attending the Olive Branch YMCA Healthy Kids Day event. Hours are from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the YMCA, located on Goodman Road near the Olive Branch City Park. Come out to try your hand taking a slap shot and meet the friendliest mascots around. Healthy Kids Day is part of a national YMCA effort to promote the benefits of healthy families being active together and wellness.

On Wednesday, April 21st, you can come out and see if Sheldon and RiverThing can survive jump roping for long, as part of the Jump Rope for Heart event at Chickasaw Elementary School in Olive Branch. Hours are from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM for the mascots' appearance. Chickasaw Elementary School is located at 6391 Chickasaw Drive. Jump Rope For Heart is a fund-raising event annually held in schools around the country to promote heart-healthy lives and support the American Heart Association.
