
Laredo Evens Series 2-2 With 4-3 Win Over Allen

LAREDO, Texas - The Allen Americans came up short in a 4-3 loss to the Laredo Bucks tonight at the Laredo Energy Arena. The Conference Semifinals series is tied again, 2-2.
Americans Captain Jarret Lukin opened scoring in the game, netting Allen's first post-season shorthanded goal in franchise history. His unassisted tally came early, a little over one minute into the contest. The 1-0 lead lasted two minutes until Brent Cullaton scored. Laredo grabbed another lamp lighter at 13:27 when forward Todd Griffith banked his sixth point against Allen. Laredo had a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.
The Americans began the second period shorthanded after Matt Radoslovich received a five-minute boarding major for hitting Paul Elliott with 1:49 left in the first. Laredo scored its first power play goal of the series at 1:29 once Neil Trimm registered his third goal of the playoffs. Three minutes later, Erik Adams, one of the Americans' top defenseman, notched his third goal against the Bucks to cut Laredo's lead in half. Griffith regained the Buck's two-goal cushion at 16:21 after his second goal of the night to bring the score to 4-2.
The Americans fired 14 shots off in the final period in one last effort to win the game. Colton Yellow Horn was the only one able to find the back of the net at 13:58, but one goal more goal was needed to push the game into overtime.
Netminder Chris Whitley saved 24 shots, while his opponent, Pier-Olivier Pelletier, stopped 37.
This was the third game in the series where the team who scored first ended up with a loss.
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs finished a sweep of the Colorado Eagles tonight with a 4-2 victory. The Mudbugs will play the winner of the Rapid City-Missouri series. Rapid City leads the series 3-0 with the next game tomorrow night. The Texas Brahmas lost last night to Odessa, but Allen's cross-town rival still hangs on to a 2-1 series lead.
Allen continues its best-of-seven series in Laredo with Game Five April 3. The teams will head to Allen for Game Six April 6 at 7:30 p.m. If forced to seven games, Allen will host Laredo again Wednesday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for both games by calling 972-912-1000 or visiting www.gettix.net.
