Mississippi RiverKings News Release
HORN LAKE, Miss. - Mississippi RiverKings Broadcaster Lukas Favale was at Magnolia School in Horn Lake Tuesday morning to give an anti-bullying presentation.
The discussion was focused on the different types of bullying, the effects that bullying can have and ways to prevent and stop bullying. It was part of the RiverKings "Checking Against Bullying" program.
"The highlight of our school year was having the RiverKings visit Magnolia for two programs," said Caroline Mortiere, a teacher at Magnolia School. "Having professional hockey players speak to our students helped the children receive a better understanding about the game of hockey, the importance of teamwork and how bullying can be prevented."
The RiverKings also went to Magnolia School April 21, when forwards Linden Bahm and Sean Jones taught the students the basics of hockey as part of the "Sticks are for Kids" program.
"I believe that having these school programs helps teach students life lessons and skills that go beyond the classroom," Mortiere said. "It is a great opportunity for our students to learn how to be model citizens from these beneficial programs. I am looking forward to having the RiverKings come back next year for more classroom programs."
