RiverKings Acquire Wilson from Pensacola

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Mississippi RiverKings head coach and director of hockey operations Derek Landmesser announced that the team has acquired forward Chris Wilson from the Pensacola Ice Flyers for forward Deven Stillar and defenseman Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon.

Wilson spent last season with the Pensacola Ice Flyers where he led the team in goals (30), good for fourth in the SPHL despite only playing in 47 games.

"Coming into the offseason, we had to get better up front," said Landmesser. "Acquiring a guy with Chris' skill will give a huge boost to our lineup, especially on the power play."

The Prince Albert, Sask. native played the last two season with the Ice Flyers, tallying 71 and 55 points respectively. He has placed in the top 10 in league scoring in each of those years, including a second-place finish in 2010-11.

In return for Wilson, the RiverKings sent forward Deven Stillar and defensemen Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon to the Ice Flyers.

"It's tough to let those guys go, but you have to give up talent to get talent," said Landmesser. "I certainly wish them the best of luck in Pensacola."

Stillar signed a 3 Game Tryout contract on Nov. 23 before earning a full-time spot a week later. In his rookie season with the RiverKings, the Sudbury, Ont. native tallied 13 goals and 10 assists in 45 games.

The RiverKings acquired Boutin-Gagnon from Huntsville on Feb. 3 for future considerations. In his rookie season, Boutin-Gagnon led the league in penalty minutes by a defensemen (191) while notching 11 points in 59 games played.
