Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

Pittsburgh-The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2-4-0) return to Chartiers Valley Stadium for their second home game of the season thus far. The Los Angeles Blues (1-2-1) travel to the East coast for a two game road trip, catching the Dayton Dutch Lions (0-2-2) on Friday night and then making an overnight trip to match up against the Riverhounds. The Riverhounds and Blues will kickoff Saturday night at 7:00 PM.

Riverhounds Last Time Out

Last weekend the Riverhounds met Orlando City for an intense battle at the Florida Citrus Bowl. The teams exchanged possession throughout the first 65 minutes with neither side earning quality opportunities on goal. The Lions jumped on top of the Riverhounds in the 69th minute when Dennis Chin capitalized on a turnover in the midfield. An own goal by the Lions in the 80th minute brought the Riverhounds even at one. Less than one minute later, the Lions would attack with speed and go ahead 2-1 on a goal from Charlie Campbell. In the 85th minute of play, the Riverhounds Matt Kassel recorded his first professional goal to bring the teams level at two. The deciding moment of the game came three minutes later when the Lions made a strong tackle inside the Riverhounds penalty area to free Ian Fuller for the game-winning tally.

Blues Last Time Out

The Blues are coming off a two game home stand last weekend against the Wilmington Hammerheads (2-2-2). After conceding a first half goal to the Hammerheads Bryce Taylor on Friday night, the Blues received a goal each from Matt Fondy and Allen Russell in the second half to earn their first victory of the season.

The second meeting between the two Clubs came on Sunday and ended in a 2-2 draw. The final thirty minutes saw the Hammerheads take the lead twice, but the Blues answered quickly to finish the game even.

Match Outlook

Understanding the demands of the body on a back-to-back weekend, the Riverhounds will be focused on creating an uncomfortable environment for the Blues by pressuring the ball and controlling the tempo of the game. Carrying tired legs and fighting off the hours of travel, the Blues will look to possess the ball and maintain shape throughout. The team that can win the individual battles should be victorious.

Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds office at 412.539.1191 or at the ticket gates on game day.
