Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH (April 28, 2015) - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are delighted to announce our partnership with the Meghan Klingenberg Soccer Camp to advance girls' soccer in Western Pennsylvania.
Gibsonia native Klingenberg will be representing the United States women's national team at this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada. The Pine-Richland High School graduate will return to Pittsburgh after the tournament to host her annual soccer camp at the Dick's Sporting Goods Sportsplex in Cranberry Township from July 17-19.
Members of the Riverhounds coaching staff will be on hand to share their expertise with participants along with some of Klingenberg's teammates from the Houston Dash women's franchise and U.S. national team.
"The Meghan Klingenberg Soccer Camp is a way for me to be involved in my community and give back through the game that I love," Klingenberg said.
"I look forward to it every summer because I know it can make a difference for these young girls through our camp curriculum which revolves around life skills as well as soccer."
Klingenberg's camp is geared toward middle to high school aged girls that play at an advanced level. Professional players and coaches will lead training sessions on tactical awareness and technical skills. Certified sports psychologists and sports performance coaches will discuss other fundamentals required to become a high level player such as leadership, mental toughness, time management and good nutrition.
Klingenberg will also be a special guest of the Riverhounds for the club's USL Eastern Conference clash with Louisville City F.C. on Saturday, July 18. Kickoff for the game is 7 p.m. More details surrounding the event will be released at a later date.
"Community involvement and working with soccer players of all levels and ages to reach their full potential are goals that both Meghan and the Riverhounds share," said Riverhounds president Richard Nightingale.
"We're proud to be partnering with her and look forward to hopefully welcoming a World Cup winner to Highmark Stadium on July 18 for a night of special events and celebrations."
