Riverhounds Look to Bounce Back
July 12, 2012 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Pittsburgh-The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are looking to rebound from two tough one-goal losses last week in USL PRO action. The Riverhounds leave Thursday for a back-to-back weekend against the Richmond Kickers and Charlotte Eagles. The Riverhounds will meet the Kickers on Friday night at City Stadium for a 7:00 PM start and then travel overnight to meet the Eagles Saturday night at Charlotte Christian Stadium for an 8:00 PM kickoff.
With the Riverhounds sitting just six points behind the Kickers and Eagles, who are currently tied for the sixth and final playoff position within the League table, this weekend's games are critical for the Riverhounds to stay in contention for a playoff berth. The Riverhounds will be traveling with their full squad to provide depth and multiple options for both games.
The Hounds have eight games remaining in the 2012 regular season and every game will be highly contested, demanding that each player perform as a professional. With no room for error, the Riverhounds must battle together to overcome the point deficit and earn a ticket into the coveted post-season.
The Riverhounds and Kickers last met on May 18th in Pittsburgh, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. Dawyne "Ricky" Smith recorded his first professional goal in the 45th minute to put the Riverhounds up at the half, but the Kickers prolific goal-scorer Matt Delicate tallied the tying goal in 71st minute.
This will be the first meeting of the season between the Riverhounds and Eagles on Saturday night. With little understanding of how each side plays, the game will definitely be intense and exciting for the entire ninety minutes.
