Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Western PA - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are pleased to announce the signing of Felix 'Alfonso' Motagalvan, Michael Seamon, and Ryan Kinne for their inaugural season at Highmark Stadium, pending USL and USSF approval. The trio of talent brings top-level footwork, MLS experience, and blue-collar work ethic to a Riverhounds Team poised to begin a new era of Pittsburgh Professional Soccer.
"These are three players that we have had our eyes on for the past few years," stated Head Coach Justin Evans. "With the direction the Club is taking, it's exciting to know that we are able to now attract quality players like Alfonso, Michael, and Ryan to Pittsburgh, and we look forward to a successful 2013 USL PRO campaign."
A crafty and composed central midfielder, Alfonso Motagalvan comes to Pittsburgh with three years of professional experience under his belt. His most recent stop was in Florida, with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League in 2012. Prior to his one-year stint with the Strikers, Motagalvan played two seasons for the Riverhounds' long-time regional nemesis, the Rochester Rhinos. Motagalvan has been in off-season training with Chivas USA of Major League Soccer, and is expected to arrive in top form.
According to Motagalvan, the excitement around Pittsburgh soccer has stretched across the country and the desire to play here is at an all-time high. "I'm looking forward to a new challenge in Pittsburgh, especially with the new stadium and new players coming in. Hopefully it's the start of something great for the city and we can bring a championship home. Last but not least, I want to thank my family, friends and God for their ongoing support."
Michael Seamon was drafted 27 th overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Seattle Sounders FC. During his time in Seattle, Seamon recorded 20 appearances and played a key role in the Sounders 2010 and 2011 US Open Cup Championship campaigns. A physical and strong midfielder, Seamon will step into one of the most talented central midfields the Riverhounds have ever seen, with pace, passing and power.
"I am so excited to get out to Pittsburgh and have a promising season with the Riverhounds," said Seamon. "After speaking multiple times with Coach Evans, I am thrilled with the opportunity to start a new chapter in my career. The experiences I had with the Seattle Sounders have prepared me for this next step, and I hope those experiences culminate into a successful season for myself, my teammates, and the Riverhounds organization."
A young and shifty attacking minded midfielder, Ryan Kinne was drafted 42 nd overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution. Following a year with the Revolution, Kinne signed with Connecticut FC Azul of the USL Premier Development League and recorded 8 goals in the 2012 season. Kinne starred for Monmouth University from 2007-2010 and was a Hermann Trophy semi-finalist in both his junior and senior seasons.
Kinne comments, "I'm excited to get back on the field and to be challenging for a USL PRO Title. Looking forward to getting into camp, meeting the fellas, and starting training."
