October 4, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds Academy is pleased to announce its first-ever Winter Futsal Training Academy, which will kick off this November at the Allegheny Health Network Sports Complex at Cool Springs in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
Open for boys and girls ages 6-15 years old regardless of club affiliation, the Winter Futsal Training Academy will be run by Futsal Director Justin Evans. There are no formal evaluations for the program, and it will be treated as a first come, first serve basis.
"We are delighted to launch Riverhounds Academy Futsal," Academy Director Scott Gibson said. "As a club we are always looking to grow our Training Academy offerings and believe that futsal is the perfect next step. Many young players enjoy taking part in futsal, and this program will provide them the opportunity to do that under the direction our Futsal Director, Justin Evans. We are excited to see the growth potential of this program over the coming months."
The training curriculum will be focused on high-level technical development, which will allow participants to hone their technique on the ball and decisions under pressure in tighter spaces. Furthermore, these tight spaces will help the athletes develop ball control, dribbling skills and creativity. For a period of time near the conclusion of each session, there will be a game-play opportunity for players to showcase what they have worked on in their futsal drills.
