Rockford RiverHawks News Release

The RiverHawks announced the signing of former Chicago White Sox farmhand Nilson Teilon during Sunday's FanFest.

Teilon, 23, and a native of baseball hub San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic, spent four seasons, 1998-2001, in the Chicago system. Teilon, who split time between the middle infield and the outfield, had his best power season at Burlington of the Class A Midwest League in 2000. He hit .249 with 14 home runs and 55 RBI for the Bees.

"He's looked upon by scouts as being a power guy already," RiverHawks President Dave Ciarrachi said. Teilon is expected to be used in the Rockford outfield.

Teilon, who didn't play in 2002, hit .277 with seven homers and 55 RBI for South Bend, Arizona's MWL affiliate, last year.
