Richmond, IN-The RiverHawks entered the ninth inning of Sunday's ballgame trailing 1-0. Jason Shelly (3-1) had done all he could to keep the game close for Rockford as he threw a complete game striking out eight while walking just two batters.
Casey DeGroote came into the game as a pinch hitter and singled after a Bobby Matthews walk to begin the ninth inning rally. Trevor Hall then singled and knocked in the game tying run. With runners on the corners Kiley Vaughn drove a ball to center allowing pinch runner Dan Urban to score the game-winning run. Aaron Williams (0-2) picked up the loss for the Roosters.
The âHawks return to Marinelli with a six-game home stand against Kalamazoo, Washington and Richmond beginning on Tuesday, June 17th, for toothbrush night sponsored by Dental Dimensions. The RiverHawks will face off against the Kalamazoo Kings at 7:05. Tickets are still available, give the RiverHawks office a call at 964-BALL.
RiverHawk Watch- Former RiverHawk Jayson Drobiak hit a pair of two-run homeruns (12,13) to power the Battle Creek Yankees past the Dayton Dragons 8-1 in Midwest League action Saturday. Drobiak is the first B.C. Yankee to have a multi-homer game this season. Drobiak is just one home run behind the league leader Nelson Cruz. Drobiak will be the starting first baseman Tuesday night for the Eastern Division MWL All-Star team as he leads the league in extra-base hits and leads the Yankees with 37 RBI.
Midwest Championship Wrestling will be at Marinelli Field on July 12. The action starts at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the RiverHawks at 964-BALL.
The Rockford RiverHawks are hosting a Los Lobos concert in the Marinelli Field parking lot on Sunday, July 27. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 1:00 p.m. People who have tickets to the concert will get into the game for free and concessions will be open.
