LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks rallied for seven seventh-inning runs on Thursday and beat Lake County, 12-6.
Patrick O'Sullivan was a season-best 4-for-4 with two RBI, in front of a sellout crowd of 4,298 at Road Ranger Stadium. Jason James homered for the third straight game. Jeff Dunbar homered for the Fielders.
Rockford dropped five of its last six games before the all-star break, including two of three last weekend at Lake County, and scored just 12 runs in that span.
The RiverHawks had an early 5-1 lead, but the Fielders chipped away with two runs in the fifth inning and took the lead with three unearned runs in the top of the seventh off of reliever Manny Olivares. Dunbar's ninth home run, a three-run shot to right-center field, gave Lake County a 6-5 lead.
In the bottom of the inning, Rockford scored seven two-out runs. Lake County reliever Garrett Sherrill hit Jono Brooks with the bases loaded to force in the tying run and walked Kevin House to force in the winning run. Sherrill (4-1) left after Jake Eigsti hit a two-run bloop single to center. Ryan Falcon entered and hung a curveball that James blasted to right-center.
