Riverhawks Name Brian Schwelling As Team's New Owner

February 16, 2005 -- Brian Schwelling has been introduced as the new owner of the Atlantic Indoor Football League's Johnstown Riverhawks.

Schwelling, 36, who resides in Acworth, GA but was raised in Sharpsville, PA, currently serves as the President and CEO of Formula One Automotive Services.

He graduated from Sharpsville Area High School, where he was a two-year letterman in football and baseball and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 from Youngstown State University in international business management. He also studied Russian and political science.

In 1991, Schwellling held an internship at the United Nations and served as president of the UN's European model in 1992. He also served an internship with the Mercer County (GA) Prosecutor's Office in 1990.

Schwelling's business career began in 1994 in Warren, OH as Dealer Principal with Warren Nissan/Mazda/Subaru/Hyundai, supervising a staff of 200 employees. After two years, he joined Toyota Motor Insurance Services in Chicago as a District Account Manager.

In 1997, he became Director of Finance Operations for Medved Automotive Group in Denver, then joined Asbury Automotive in a similar position in two cities, Portland, ME and Atlanta before working with Formula One.

Schwelling married Bonnie Whiteside of Austintown, OH in 1995 and have a 2-year-old daughter, Carley Jade.

He is a former ski instructor who enjoys playing golf and racquetball. He is also an avid reader and enjoys classic movies and becoming a new father.
