
Raleigh Rebels Announce Coaching Staff

February 16, 2005 -- The Raleigh (NC) Rebels of the Atlantic Indoor Football League have named Jason Gibson as the team's first head coach and named Scott Loosemore and Scott Thistle as assistant coaches.
Gibson is currently head coach at Eastern Guilford High School in Raleigh. He played college football at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV and professionally with the British Columbia Lions and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League, the Marburg Mercenaries of the German Football League and the Greensboro (NC) Prowlers of arenafootball2.
He coached two years at Fairmont State and was an offensive coordinator for Greensboro, who averaged 51.6 points per game in his tenure.
Gibson was also selected as High School Football Coach of the Year by the NFL's Carolina Panthers.
Loosemore also comes to the Rebels from East Guilford, where he spent a season as offensive line coach.
He spent eight years as offensive coordinator for Southeastern Guilford High School (1988-'95) before joining North Carolina A&T University as a tight ends coach for the 1996 season and as linebackers coach for the '97 and '98 seasons. He then served two coaching stints at Elon College -- as a defensive ends coach in 1998 and as tight ends coach in the '98 and '99 seasons and returned as tight ends coach in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
In 2004, Loosemore was at Eastern Guilford as offensive line coach.
Thistle played football at Hudson Valley Community College in Albany, NY and at Fairmont State, where he coached wide receivers for three seasons.
He is a certified speed, agility and quickness trainer and is co-owner of Performance Plus Fitness In Apex, NC.
The Rebels will also hold a player tryout February 26 at the Factory Ice House, located at 1839-200 South Main Street in Wake Forest, NC.
Registration will take place from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with the tryout scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
