Folmar Will Not Return To Rebels In 2007

Raleigh Rebels News Release

RALEIGH NC - On Friday it was announced that Steven G. Folmar will not return as head coach of the Raleigh Rebels professional indoor football team for the 2007 season.

A reason was not given but Folmar thinks the organization just wanted a fresh start. "Anytime a new owner comes on, they usually want to bring their own people in. Football at this level is a business, I understand that." said Folmar. "The Rebels are in good hands, I just want to thank all of our sponsors that hung with us this year such as the Ramada Inn Blue Ridge, Gold's Gym at North Hills, Damon's Steakhouse, John Osika at Body Basics and the entire team medical staff, we couldn't have had a successful season without them." Folmar does not seem too worried about being unemployed long, "After the season that we went through, with all the trials and tribulations that this team had to fight with, and the success we still had as an organization, I'm sure I will land on my feet somewhere. I am going to go back home to Meadville (PA), see the family, recharge my batteries and hopefully find somewhere to make another run at a title in professional football. I am just glad I had the opportunity to work with the young men who played for me this year and glad I got a chance to sample a little of that Raleigh hospitality."

The Rebels, a member of the American Indoor Football League, finished the 2006 campaign with an 8-6 record and advanced to the Southern Conference Championship Game before bowing out to the Rome Renegades. Both teams are owned by Rome(GA) businessman Harry Pierce.
