November 11, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release
A third-period offensive explosion provided all the goals the Augusta RiverHawks would need Friday night as they would defeat the Louisiana Ice Gators 5-2 in Lafayette. The RiverHawks entered the third period down a goal, but would score four before the mid-way point of the final frame as they would skate away with the first half of the back-to-back games taking place between the two teams this weekend in Louisiana.
The star offensively for the RiverHawks was Travis Dunstall who scored two goals on the night. His goals included the first of the game as well as the game-tying goal just 18 seconds into the third period. It was Dunstall's second and third goals of the season.
RiverHawks' Captain Matt Auffrey assisted on both of Dunstall's goals, but he kept his hands busy beyond setting up his linemate. In the third period he fought Ice Gator Eric Tallent and got the upper hand after bloodying the Louisiana defenseman's nose.
Drew Baker continued his strong play this season for Augusta, scoring the game-winning goal in the third period and adding an assist on the team's fifth. It was the second goal and third assist of the young season for Baker, who has also been a stalwart defensively for the RiverHawks thus far.
David Wilson made 30 saves on his way to the win for the RiverHawks, his second in a row. At the other end of the ice Ice Gators' goaltender Mike Brown, the defending SPHL Player of the Week, had 49 shots fired at him, of which he stopped 44.
The RiverHawks play the IceGators once again Saturday night in Lafayette, LA. The puck drops at 8:05pm EST. Fans in Augusta can catch the games at the Official Live Watch Party at Somewhere in Augusta at 2820 Washington Rd. and enjoy a burger and beer for just $10.
The RiverHawks are back in action on Phoenix Refrigeration Ice at the James Brown Arena Friday, November 25th as they play the Pensacola Ice Flyers. The puck drops at 7:35pm. Tickets for the game are available through the James Brown Arena box office. Additional information on the Team, tickets, and schedule are available on the RiverHawks' home on the web, www.augustariverhawks.com or by calling 706-993-2645.
