Johnstown RiverHawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Behind five touchdown passes from Adam Haught and an inspired effort from their defense, the Johnstown Riverhawks upended the Miami Valley Silverbacks 38-20 at Cambria County War Memorial. The Johnstown defense recorded eight sacks and forced two turnovers - both turned into Johnstown points. Haught, given the keys to the offense for the rest of the season by Riverhawks coach Brian Basile earlier in the week, sparkled in his third start - getting the Riverhawks on the board quickly with a 28-yard strike to Quenteen Robinson less than 2 minutes into the game. The Silverbacks (3-4) answered on their first drive when emergency starter Sam Crenshaw scored on a 1-yard quarterback keeper. Jeff Jackson's 1-yard run 8 minutes later gave Johnstown (4-4) a 12-7 lead and started a 20-point rush leading into halftime. A fumble recovery by Dominique Morris set the Riverhawks up at the Silverbacks' 1-yard-line. Haught, who finished 10-for-20 with two picks and 166 yards, expanded the Riverhawks lead on a 40-yard touchdown to Richard Cooper. Robinson, who led the team with 90 yards on five catches, reeled in an 8-yard pass from Haught to give the River hawks a 26-7 lead heading into the half. Miami Valley's Maurice Lee pulled in two second-half touchdown passes with his first coming from Crenshaw for a 24-yard score. Crenshaw, typically a wide receiver for Miami Valley, finished 10-for-29 with an interception and 118 yards. Cooper and Robinson punctuated the Johnstown victory with touchdown grabs in the third with Cooper's covering 20 yards and Robinson pulling in a 40-yarder. Despite three catches. Cooper had 62 yards on the night. Lee ended the scoring with 1:19 left, taking in a 36-yard pass from Kerrick Cooper. Cooper, fighting a hamstring injury, missed the start but ended with 55 yards on 3 completions in relief of Crenshaw.
