Columbus Riverdragons News Release
COLUMBUS, Ga., (November 13, 2002) - The Columbus Riverdragons set their 10-man opening day roster for the 2002-03 NBDL season, Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone announced today. Five players return from the Riverdragons 2001-02 squad which advanced to the inaugural NBDL Semifinals. The returning players are forwards Tang Hamilton, Sean Daugherty and Nate Johnson and guards Jeremy Veal and Saul Smith.
The Riverdragons also open the season with five players who recently spent time in NBA training camps and two players - Hamilton (a former forward with the Miami Heat) and 10-year NBA veteran Derek Strong - who have regular season game experience in the NBA..
"I am real excited about this group," said Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone. "We have several guys who could be called up very quickly and that's what this league is all about. Derek will probably be one of my captains and Tang came very close to making the Grizzlies this October. I look forward to both of those guys thriving at this level and will be more than happy for them if and when they get back to the NBA."

Rookies Sean Peterson, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Georgia Southern and 6-foot-9 center Marcus Evans from the University of Rhode Island made the Riverdragons along with veteran 6-foot-7 forward Jermaine Walker.
The Riverdragons trimmed their 15-man roster today by waiving Greg Clausen, C, (Marquette); Kevin Morris, G, (Georgia State); Willie Davis, G, (SMU); Aaron Owens, G, (Henderson St.); Reggie Butler, C, (Xavier).
