Riverdragons Lose Starting Center
Published on December 4, 2002 under NBA G League (G League) News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. (December 4, 2002) - At his request, the National Basketball Development League has released Columbus Riverdragons center Lonnie Jones from his contract so that he may devote the necessary time to rehabilitate his surgically repaired knee.
The 7-foot, 228-pound Jones has patella tendonitis and is scheduled to continue his rehab in Oklahoma City. Jones, who started all eight games he played for the Riverdragons, averaged 2.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
"I will miss my teammates and coaches," Jones said. "However, the time that I will spend getting myself healthy and stronger will allow me to return and make a significant contribution to my team and the league."
The Riverdragons (4-4) travel to Greenville Saturday to meet the Groove (5-4) at the Bi-Lo Center.
